Born in Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo, Ireland, Kay Brennan has been painting for several years. Her work has evolved over a period of time, firstly from landscapes and seascapes, to a more representational approach in recent years. Her paintings are spontaneous colour studies of various subjects. She specializes in multi-layered oils and is inspired by everything around her; flowers, people, landscape and style. She is almost completely self-taught and is strongly influenced by the impressionists.

Kay paints in her studio in Ballinrobe and in her home studio in Claremorris. She has exhibited her work in several venues in the West and has taken part in a number of group shows across Ireland. She has done several painting demonstrations in her local community and facilitates painting groups in her studio. She is involved in organising various art events and is secretary of the Claremorris Arts Committee.
