Born in Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo, Ireland, Kay Brennan has been painting since 1997. Her work has evolved over a period of time, firstly from landscapes and seascapes, to a more representational approach in recent years. Her paintings are spontaneous colour studies of various subjects. She specialises in multi-layered oils and is inspired by everything around her, flowers, people, landscape and style. She is almost completely self-taught and is strongly influenced by the impressionists.
Kay paints in her studio in Ballinrobe and in her home studio in Claremorris. She has had three solo shows in the last four years, exhibiting in the Claremorris Art Gallery, the White Room, Galway and the Art Space, Ballinrobe. She has also exhibited in many group shows over the last number of years. She is involved in organising various art events and is secretary of the Claremorris Arts Committee.
